Lake Achensee in winter

The region is especially reknown for its extensive net of cross-country trails.With more than 200 km (124 miles) of separate trails for classic cross-country skiers and skaters, a separate training trail, cross-country trails, accessible for handicapped and snowmaking systems in various holiday resorts, Lake Achensee defends its leading position in terms of cross-country sports in the Tyrol. The Achensee region offers a total of five skiing areas with approximately 58 runway kilometers (36 miles). These areas are especially reknown for their extraordinary family friendlyness and the special offers for mini skiers. Seven ski schools offer matching courses. Who wants to experience the winter wonderland of Lake Achensee apart from the slopes, can let off steam on one of five toboggan runs or relax during a horse-drawn sleigh ride through one of the Karwendel valleys.
